In this chapter, the author shares the discussion he had in an interview with Alan Ricks. He co‐founded MASS Design Group with Michael Murphy while both were graduate students at Harvard. As Chief Design Officer, Alan co‐leads strategy and design of the practice and also oversees the design process of its interdisciplinary studios, including architecture, landscape, engineering, construction, and fabrication.
