When the Reservoir Almost Went Dry
A long dry spell in 1969 created a very serious water‐supply shortage for the 7 million people that live in the Sao Paulo, Brazil, metropolitan area. During that time, the company in charge of dealing with the emergency had to face the possibility that there could eventually be a total collapse of the water supply. Here is a summary account of actions taken during that serious emergency situation and the attempt to derive some lessons from those hectic days.
