An Unusual Form of Corrosion
Studies of the water System of Faro, Yukon Territory, have revealed a form of corrosion that is unusual and possibly unique. The combination of discontinuous permafrost in a semi‐arid area leading to uncertain electrical grounds, together with a conductive water supply and the superimposition of radio‐frequency currents on the metallic portions of the distribution System—particularly copper tubing—jointly contributes to the corrosion problem.
