This article presents a method for the determination of silver in potable water in the concentration range 0.01‐0.50 mg/l. The method is designed for routine analysis of potable water for purposes of evaluating its quality with respect to silver concentration. A sample of potable water is diluted with Li2SO4 matrix solution, and a palladium solution is added as an internal standard. Standards are made by adding appropriate amounts of silver to a potable water blank with less than 0.0005 mg/l silver and diluting this with the Li2SO4 matrix solution and the palladium internal‐standard solution. Experimental apparatus is discussed, along with reagents, standard samples, standard working curve, procedure, and accuracy.
