Privatizing the Mexican water industry
Access to basic services plus betterment of water and sewer systems led to the privatization of Mexico's water industry.
Mexico has begun to privatize its water industry in an attempt to provide better water service and produce revenues that match costs. Privatization does not follow the traditional scheme, however. It is structured in the form of a management contract in which the ownership of the infrastructure and control over the politics of implementing the new billing systems remain in the hands of Mexico City's government.
