Nonpoint Source Pollution
This article presents a comprehensive review of research advances in 2010 on nonpoint source (NPS) water pollution caused by various known (urban stormwater, highway stormwater, agricultural runoff, and atmospheric deposition) and unknown sources. Progresses in modeling approaches, total maximum daily load (TMDL) calculations, low impact development (LID) technologies and best management practices (BMPs) for NPS pollution controls, as well as their socioeconomic impacts are reviewed. In addition, impacts of global climate change on NPS pollution are also summarized.
