Limnology of a North Carolina Reservoir and Its Use in Water Treatment
By the use of limnologic sampling techniques and a program of systematic surveys, variations in water quality in University Lake, Chapel Hill, North Carolina were studied and defined. Sharp changes in water quality associated with specific seasonal phenomena were anticipated and intake levels or treatment procedures adjusted accordingly. The data in this article was collected in 1960. All analytic techniques followed those outlined in the tenth edition of Standard Methods except as otherwise noted. Temperature measurements were made with direct‐reading thermistor telethermometers.
