Reinforced Concrete Research Aims for Better Design, Lower Cost
This article reports on two studies conducted at the Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands: the use of a computer model in the design of new structures, as well as the analysis of existing ones, calculates the rate at which salt and moisture penetrate reinforced concrete, and reinforced high‐strength concrete is less sensitive to cracks than similar concrete that is not reinforced, indicating that some steps in the manufacturing process can be eliminated or shortened.
