Concentrations and Effects of Pesticides in Aquatic Environments
This article discusses a prospective nationwide study to sample water, soils, plants, and animals, including humans, to determine pesticide levels in all areas of the United States. The study aims to determine how widespread pesticides are, whether concentrations are increasing, and whether there is evidence that minute quantities of pesticides ingested into humans from infancy can build up to harmful levels over time. Samples were col1ected in 1‐liter glass bottles and were analyzed according to the laboratory procedure described by Warnick and Caufin.
