Organizational and System Improvements in Cairo
Continuous efforts are being made by the General Organization for Greater Cairo Water Supply to improve both its organization and its systems. Two major problems confronting the organization are the shortage of technical personnel and the confusing diversity of equipment and technologies that have been received from various countries around the world. Institutional aspects of the organization that are currently being upgraded are employee training, inventory control, water conservation, and finances and accounting. Technological advances include expansion of a water treatment plant, updating of water quality control, improvements in engineering and planning, implementation of telemetry, construction of a plant for removing iron and manganese, and the introduction of mobile workshops.
