Eine Plattform für die Wissenschaft: Bauingenieurwesen, Architektur und Urbanistik
Automation practices utilized in manufacturing today emerged from a twentieth‐century goal of standardization, which promised efficiencies gained via a breakdown of a manufacturing process with workers repeating tasks within that sequence. The codification of architecture largely happened as Alberti's text was one of the first architectural treatises to be broadly published, made possible by Gutenberg's invention. Architects could design buildings and implement those designs more quickly and comprehensively, which translated into an increase in design fees. The digitalization of architectural information allowed for a new, and potentially more equitable distribution of knowledge within the design process. Building information modeling practically allows clash detection of building components in three‐dimensional space, output of bills of materials, building costing, and generative design. Generative design is tied to automation, both in terms of solution generation as well as of how parts can be produced and encompasses scripting and programming within its suite.
