This chapter focuses on giving architects the ability to dimension and annotate a model. It covers the following topics: selecting and applying dimensioning, using dimensions as a layout tool, and placing text and annotations. The Dimension command has six separate types: aligned, linear, angular, radial, arc length, and diameter. Aligned and linear dimensions are the two dimension styles that pertain to straight dimensioning. The next three dimensions such as angular dimensions, radial dimensions and arc length dimensions procedure add dimensions to angled and radial geometry. The process of using dimensions to move objects takes some getting used to. In Revit, architects can choose to keep the walls constrained or to use the dimension only as a tool to move the walls around. Text in Revit is a love/hate relationship for every Revit user. Architects will love text because it automatically scales with the view's scale.
