Hygrothermal Behavior of Hempcrete
This chapter talks about analysis and characterization of the hygrothermal performance of construction materials including hempcretes, subjected to conditions of temperature and relative humidity that are similar to the real conditions of use. Three materials are tested for the purposes of this investigation: aerated autoclaved concrete (AAC), hemp/lime concrete (HLC), and vertically perforated bricks (VPB). The chapter also offers a comparison of the results obtained against a model of pure heat conduction, in order to give a more precise analysis of the role of conductive and convective transfer, by radiation or by phase‐changing in the materials. Finally, the chapter presents the results of the numerical modeling currently under way.
