The Infrastructure Challenge: Public—Private Partnerships Offer a Solution
This article discusses public‐private partnerships whereby private‐sector water companies assist in designing, rebuilding, and operating publicly‐owned water systems. The article first discusses the challenges that communities are facing such as aging infrastructure, increasing complexity in system management, and growing demand for water. The article goes on to discuss how public‐private partnerships can help local municipalities by offering a holistic approach to water management that includes leveraging expertise, total water management, funding, responsibility, and utility growth.
