Every two years since 1956, the U.S. Public Health Service has compiled an inventory of the municipal water facilities of the larger cities of the United States and published a summary of its findings. This, the fifth such report, reflects conditions as of Jan. 1, 1964. This article gives selected national totals only and is similar to previous articles appearing in the JOURNAL. This inventory covers 1,514 facilities in 938 communities. Of these communities, 181 had a population of less than 25,000.
