Ultra High Performance Fibre Reinforced Concrete Activation Energy
In the literature, there are contradictory recommendations regarding the choice of the activation energy (Ea). According to certain authors Ea depends on the cement chemical composition, the fineness, the type, the quantity of the cement and the addition. Other authors indicated that Ea varies with the water/cement ratio and the temperature. This paper focuses on activation energy prediction for specific UHPFRC by means of empirical models. The main parameters of these models are determined from experimental results performed under different curing conditions. The calculated value of activation energy for the tested UHPFRC is equal to 33.3 [kJ/mol] and is similar to that obtained for conventional concretes. The similarity between UHPFRC and normal concrete activation energies can be attributed to the low water to cement ratio in the UHPFRC, and the presence of a high amount of silica fume.
