Quality Control
Quality control is probably the most important aspect of building information model (BIM) content development. The quality control process for content development is break down into four basic modules: graphics, data, final assembly, and implementation. If an architect downloads a window manufacturer's BIM of a specific component, there are certain expectations that come with it. Graphics play a vital role in the success or failure of a BIM component. Once the graphics and data are developed, an assembly procedure needs to be performed to align the information in the model with the graphics. This takes one piece of graphic and prepares it to be used for multiple versions, or types. Once all the graphics and data have been completed, checked, and approved, the data must be merged into the graphics to create a singular unit of information, or the completed BIM object.
