What Is Smart City?
In this chapter, the definition of smart city will be discussed, and its functions, characteristics, and domains will be explained. To demonstrate the smart city deployment and benefits derived from it, different elements of a smart city, such as smart energy, smart transportation, and smart health, based on the advancement of information and communication technology will be reported with examples. Some case studies on smart city worldwide and the standards developed will be looked at. Challenges and opportunities from smart city development will be investigated.
