The Effects of Permanganate Pretreatment on Trihalomethane Formation in Drinking Water
Besides satisfying conventional pretreatment requirements for oxidation of iron and manganese and destruction of taste‐ and odor‐causing substances, permanganate has the potential to oxidize humic and other organic contaminants in water that serve as precursors of trihalomethanes.
