Reflecting on multisite evaluation practice
The lead evaluators for four large‐scale multisite National Science Foundation evaluations discuss their experiences across time and space to explicate what they have learned as six lessons that may be of use to other multisite practitioners. The lessons relate to the control of decisions, use of the evaluation process and outcomes, supporting project staff in their evaluation work, serving as a buffer between the funder and projects, taking purposeful leadership around cultural issues, and the importance of high‐quality evaluation designs. © Wiley Periodicals Inc., and the American Evaluation Association.
