Carney's comments (February 1990 JOURNAL) relative to AWWA's testimony on the proposed Two Forks project near Denver, Colo. are problematic, according to Mr. Welton, in that Mr. Carney does not indicate how he is involved in the water industry. Mr. Welton refutes the arguments that Two Forks would destroy a premier trout stream and scenic area. Mr. Welton applauds the intent of environmental legislation but is appalled by the radical approach taken by the environmental community. He would be disappointed by any professional organization involved in the water industry, such as AWWA, that did not recognize water supply as the fourth component in water matters. He would also be disappointed in any water industry professional who was unable to find a balance between environmental concerns and fulfilling the obligation to provide water.
