San Francisco's Program of Long‐Range Planning
This article discusses the planning behind a proposed (and passed) 1961 bond issue to finance an increase to the water supply available to the San Francisco water department's service area, which includes most of San Mateo County, northern Santa Clara County, and much of southern Alameda County, as well as the city and county of San Francisco. The supply problem is discussed, along with the components of overall water resource planning, estimation of requirements, and specific elements of the San Francisco project.
