Biochar‐Based Sorbents for Sequestration of Pharmaceutical Compounds: Considering the Main Parameters in the Adsorption Process
Pharmaceutical pollution is an inevitable part of human and animal treatment, since these compounds are excreted from human or thrown away and disposed improperly. Considering inappropriate management of drugs, waters are contaminated with pharmaceutical compound, posing severe hazards for the ecosystem. Adsorption technique has been renowned as an effective method for water/wastewater remediation. Due to special properties, including high surface area, low‐cost raw material, porosity, functional groups, and high adsorption capacity, biochars have been explored as efficient materials for pharmaceutical removal. Thus, the present chapter aims at considering the main parameters affecting the performance of biochar‐based composites in the adsorption process.
