A One‐Year Survey of Trihalomethane Concentration Changes Within a Distribution System
Over a one‐year survey of the Southern Water Authority's Testwood pumping station (Southampton, England), trihalomethanes (THMs) were found to increase significantly within the distribution system where the treated water contained a chlorine residual, a THM precursor, or both. The authors conclude that if THMs are to be measured to ensure compliance with proposed maximum contaminant levels, the samples must be taken at the consumer's tap.
