Assessment and Strengthening of a Six‐Story RC Building
This chapter presents the assessment and strengthening of an existing multi‐story reinforced concrete building. The load‐bearing system consists of frames in both horizontal directions, and a lightly reinforced U‐shaped wall core in the perimeter of the elevator shaft. In SeismoBuild, only the parameters regarding the geometry, the reinforcement and the material properties of the building are input by the user without any consideration about the formation of the finite element meshing, which is automatically created by the program. The Control Node is typically located at the center of mass of the top story or roof of the building. SeismoBuild automatically creates the technical report with the description of the model and the program assumptions, the target displacement calculations, the results from the analyses, the estimation of the member capacities, and the member checks.
