Eine Plattform für die Wissenschaft: Bauingenieurwesen, Architektur und Urbanistik
Although this chapter may appear to be a tale of two cities, the neocybernetics‐inspired city and the spontaneity and collaborative city, both of them ought to be interpreted rather as avatars, in the original sense of incarnation, of a single urban reality that is currently emerging. These avatars prove themselves to be the carriers of two directions of development for city intelligence which, far from being mutually exclusive, are in fact mutually supportive. Nascent city intelligence needs to be imagined as a crossover between centralised control modules and a looser group of structures for exchange and deliberation that takes more after the network, or even the swarm. This chapter discusses neocybernetic temptation, the cyborg‐city hypothesis, spontaneous city, collaborative city, and the digital individual. With geolocation, it is possible to know the position of mobile phone holders at any given moment, through triangulation between masts.
