This article provides predictions of the water demand in Sweden during the next 40 years. The maximum‐day and minimum‐day factors are been discussed. Several interesting and uncommon facts have come to light, most of them contrary to what is normally expected, when the maximum‐ and minimum‐day demand factors were correlated with the size of a town or the total annual demand. Limitations of the predicted demand curve are presented. It was difficult to use the usual formulas for projecting future demands because of the conflicting data which a detailed survey of the demand in the past 30 years presented. Thus, forecasting a definite trend with any degree of certainty was not possible.
