Modern Systems of Information Storage and Retrieval
This article discusses the development of microfilm to create, distribute, store, and retrieve the masses of recorded information generated in businesses and government. The concept of microfilming is presently the most dynamic segment of the graphic‐reproduction industry. The advantages of microfilm are discussed, along with dry‐process reproduction, and several new information storage and retrieval systems that use automatic filing and retrieval of microfilm images stacked in capsules or multiple images contained on larger sheets, which are themselves contained in cartridges or modules.
