Green Landscape Design of the Nanjing‐Hangzhou Motorway (Phase II)
The construction of green landscapes on the Nanjing‐Hangzhou Motorway (Phase II) adheres to the design philosophy of ‘respect nature, protect nature and restore nature’. For construction of the Nanjing‐Hangzhou Motorway (Phase II), the construction concept of ‘nature, environmental protection, tourism and scenery’ was strengthened and greater efforts were made to ensure environmental protection, ecological maintenance, landscape construction and people‐oriented facilities. In addition, central reservations can guide drivers’ line of sight and improve the landscape. Overpass bridges are one of the areas of motorways which have an important visual impact on drivers and passengers. The interchange hubs of the Nanjing‐Hangzhou Motorway (Phase II) follow the design philosophy of the ‘pearl necklace’ in Phase I. Service areas provide a resting place for motorway users as well as refreshment and vehicle maintenance services, and their main function is to meet the leisure demands of travellers in order to relieve fatigue.
