A review of transit‐time ultrasonic flowmeter principles and operation lays the groundwork for development of an AWWA standard on flowmeter selection.
AWWA has not yet developed a standard providing guidelines for selecting transit‐time ultrasonic flowmeters from among the numerous models and designs available. As a first step toward developing such a standard, the AWWA Subcommittee on Ultrasonic Devices, a subsection of the AWWA Committee on Rate Type Flowmeters, has documented the state of the art in transit‐time flowmeters. This report presents committee findings to date for public review and information. The committee welcomes comments from manufacturers, prospective users, and other parties interested in transit‐time flowmeters.
