Fujisawa, Towards a Sustainable Smart City
Fujisawa city and nearby areas have various sightseeing spots such as Enoshima Island, Shonan seacoast, Kamakura Buddha and others. In terms of city resource management, location information of garbage trucks is important for Fujisawa municipality to plan effective routes and to collect garbage from the city, so as to reduce CO2 emission. This chapter presents the challenges faced in changing Fujisawa city into a sustainable smart city. It introduces field trials in Fujisawa city with ClouT architecture. To solve the problem of Fujisawa and also to enhance the life of citizens and tourists, the author designed, implemented and used “Enoshima Info Surfboard” and “Smile Coupon” with various pieces of city information including “Sensorized Garbage Trucks”. Therefore, it is easy to integrate with city resources, and also these applications can be transferred to other cities. As a result of field trials, the author confirmed that system can motivate some citizens to change their behaviors.
