Once a site is generally planned out, architects and landscape architects are brought into the team to design the structures and vegetation. This chapter examines the various roles that these experts play in the planning and development process, the timing of their involvement, and the level of control that they exert. This chapter will broadly review the history of architecture and landscape architecture and discuss key trends towards people‐centered design approaches like cognitive architecture and evidence‐based design.
