Granulation of Filter Cakes, Pastes and Sludges by Means of Superabsorbents
A new method is presented that allows for simple, cost‐effective and industrially practicable granulation of filter cakes, pastes or sludges. For this purpose, a small amount of a superabsorbent (< 1 %) is added to a filter cake, paste or sludge. The moisture present is quickly and effectively inactivated by the superabsorbent. Granules are obtained that are not sticky and can be handled very well. Due to the fluffy granulate structure, a significant reduction of drying time is obtained and drying can be possible even at room temperature.
