Eine Plattform für die Wissenschaft: Bauingenieurwesen, Architektur und Urbanistik
This chapter focuses on building up a Building Information Modeling (BIM) support infrastructure and indicates that developing a support infrastructure that enables others to implement BIM is at the core of the BIM Manager's role. A well‐articulated BIM support infrastructure has the capability to go beyond the merely operational and empower those who work with BIM to excel at what they do. This chapter also explores how BIM Managers grow their in‐house BIM support infrastructure and disseminate their knowledge to facilitate peer‐to‐peer support. For most organizations, the quality of their BIM output is highly dependent on the quality of content within their BIM Library. Even though a sophisticated support infrastructure for BIM such as the BIM Library is pivotal for any organization, it is nevertheless not always given the priority it deserves. In relation to understanding BIM as a process, as well as understanding the quality of the setup of their BIM infrastructure, BIM audits are the most effective instruments to accommodate this. If a practice wants to test the BIM modeling capability of its staff, it can check such skills via third‐party assessment such as KnowledgeSmart. Any feedback provided via those assessment institutions can help the BIM Manager to direct his/her focus on particular areas in BIM skill development across an organization.
