The Canyon Lakes Project
The city of Lubbock does not have an abundance of water‐based recreational facilities. A research project was initiated to determine the suitability for recreational purposes of reclaimed municipal wastewater that had already been used for irrigation. Test results showed that the water had algal‐growth potential, but that such growth could be controlled with an effective algicide. In addition, the water will apparently support various types of fish life and may be suitable for primary contact.
