Algae Problems in Eastern Lake Erie
Algae reduce the palatability of potable water supplies by producing taste‐ and odor‐causing substances and limit the capacity of water‐treatment plants by clogging filters. These two problems were evaluated at five water‐treatment plants in the eastern basin of Lake Erie over a fiveyear period.
