But what type of contemporary city might evolve from this? And what happens to other, perhaps more sustainable modes of transport in its wake? Ian Woodcock, Senior Lecturer in Urbanism at the School of Architecture, Design and Planning at the University of Sydney, and Adjunct Associate Professor at the Centre for Design Innovation, Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, explores these questions and speculates about the city of the future.
