Opened in December 2008, the Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat in Ottawa translates concepts rooted in Islamic tradition into a bold, modern design inspired by a multifaceted rock crystal and its natural luminosity. The building is characterized by glazed entrance portals, a glazed atrium roof and large‐scale glazed curtain wall areas. Gartner Steel and Glass GmbH designed and built a 26 x 26 m atrium roof, with a suspended steel structure to hold the glass‐fibre fabric shade, several glass façades and a glazed vestibule entrance (see pp. A4—A5).
