Simply‐supported Composite Slabs and Beams
The layout, materials and loadings are presented for the design example used throughout the book. Methods for predicting resistance to sagging bending and to vertical and longitudinal shear are given for simply‐supported composite slabs and beams, and also for concentrated point and line loads on slabs. Other subjects include classification of steel elements in compression, ductility properties of shear connectors, transverse reinforcement, detailing rules, effects of shrinkage and temperature, vibration of floor structures, prediction of deflections of beams and slabs, hollow‐core and solid precast floor slabs, slim‐floor construction and the use of deep decking.
