This chapter presents ongoing as well as completed projects on emergency services, since they provide a wealth of information. REsponding to All Citizens needing Help (REACH112) is an ongoing pilot project funded by the European Commission. The IP‐Based Emergency Applications and ServiCes for Next Generation Networks (PEACE) project was also funded by the European Commission. It differs from the REACH112 project because it focuses on research rather than deployment of emergency services in the participating Member States, which had an impact on the selection of the consortium members. PEACE also has a wider focus than REACH112 and only one part of the project's efforts are described in the second, namely those focusing on regular 1‐1‐2 emergency calls. The next section covers a completed project from the United States on the next generation of 9‐1‐1 emergency services architectures. emergency services
