Sludge quality benefits realized from drinking water stabilization
ABSTRACT: Concerns about sludge quality continue to increase as emphasis shifts from disposal to use. A frequently asked question is what effect a drinking water stabilization program will have on the metal content of wastewater sludge. Data presented in this paper clearly show that there is a direct correlation between drinking water corrosivity and some metal contents of sludge. Further, if the potential side effects of a drinking water stabilization program are acceptable, the metals concentration in the sludges can be reduced significantly, which may make beneficial use a viable alternative.
