A Preliminary Survey of Trihalomethane Levels in Selected East Texas Water Supplies
A study of surface and groundwater treatment facilities in East Texas revealed high levels of trihalomethanes in potable water produced by all of the surface water treatment plants surveyed and low THM levels in all but one groundwater treatment plant. A significant correlation was found between the raw surface water total organic content and the finished water chloroform concentration, but the values for these two parameters did not correlate for groundwater sites.
