A schedule of work is a list of the work that has to be done in order to carry out the project. Particularly if the project is fairly large, a schedule of work can often look very like a bill of quantities. Sometimes a schedule of work really is a bill of quantities by another name. But whereas a bill of quantities is produced in accordance with accepted methods of measurement, there are no official rules about a schedule of work. It is a good idea to make some very clear and obvious reference in the contract to the fact that the contractor must include in its price all the work and materials taken in the contract documents as a whole. Where there are drawings and a specification, a schedule of works is sometimes provided as the document which the contractor has to price.
