Architectural drawings are easily able to transcend any reference to reality. This chapter describes architectural work which can only partly be verified, or which treads completely into the unknown. The drawing is absolutely key to the experience of the building and carries with it a direct representation of the fluorescent rings that straddle the surface. The chapter re‐examines the tradition of drawing as related to design intention and helps to keep it in mind as a living conceptual force. Through the ability of the computer to be linked to the modelling machine, we have moved into a condition that obviates the very need for making drawings. The manoeuvres of the controlled mouse span from the hand straight through to a solid, fashioned object. The chapter examines just how much this activity carries on the role of stating an aim and working it through in a single run of moves.
