Alum Supply and Use in Water Treatment Plants: Joint Committee Report
In the course of its 1958 survey of chlorine supply and use in water and sewage plants, the AWWA Joint Committee on Chlorine Supply gathered information on alum as well because that chemical is of comparable importance to chlorine in water treatment. Alum survey questions are provided in this article, along with analysis of the answers that showed that alum was used for treatment at 112 of the 153 water treatment plants reporting, and that 72 of those plants considered alum a necessity for emergency operation. Daily consumption figures are provided in the article, along with minimum stocks.
