Chlorination 101: Practical Makes Perfect
This article discusses the author's experience teaching the small water system operator's course in upstate New York. Running systems that serve mobile home parks, apartments, and small subdivisions, these operators wanted hassle‐free operations. They also wanted practical solutions that worked with a minimum of time, fuss, and steps. Trial and error were normal practices. One class session was devoted to solving everyday problems as simply as possible. Students were asked to present a recurring problem. Most of the problems dealt with chlorination. Three case studies and the solutions suggested by class discussion demonstrate the range of these problems.
