Building The Lanchester Library at Coventry University by Short & Associates breaks new ground by combining natural ventilation with a very deep plan. Designed in collaboration with the university for maximum flexibility, the building comprises a 46 metre square plan in which daylight and ventilation are provided by a grid of lightwells together with perimeter stacks, while stairs and other servant spaces are placed outside the main volume
