Brittlement and Controlling Measures of Boriding Layer The brittlement of boriding layer (bbl) was concerned with two sides as intrinsic attribute and technological factors. Then there were four accesses to control the brittleness: multi-element boriding, improvement of boriding process, controlling of the composition and structure of boriding phase, and aftertreatment of boriding layer. Among the above several technologies, such as multi-element REboriding, superplastic boriding, laser boriding and laser cladding, had marked effects. Meanwhile the practical testing methods had been compared and commented. The research could provide references to exert the properties of boriding product further
