The adoption behavior of new energy automotive technology in Chinese firms: A knowledge rigidity perspective
Taking related interactive factors into account, this paper develops a system dynamics model for describing the impact of knowledge rigidity on adoption of new energy automotive technology in Chinese firms. The simulation results indicate that knowledge rigidity, which derives from firm’s excessive dependence on traditional automotive technology, inhibits its adoption of new energy automotive technology. Further, legitimate policy on carbon emission restriction can weaken the knowledge rigidity and prompt firms to adopt new energy technology. Governmental subsidy encourages the firms to further develop the production capacity of new energy technology, though it only works after the mass production is initiated. In addition, decision making analysis is conducted, and suggestions for Chinese automotive firms and government are provided.
