Landslide Susceptibility Updating Considering Real-Time Observations
Landslide susceptibility assessment is a fundamental part of landslide hazard mitigation. A traditional one-off assessment can hardly respond to new observations of landslide incidents. Hence, this paper presents a novel method to update regional scale landslide susceptibility considering real-time observations of landslides. First, the correlation among the susceptibility of zoning cells is quantified to build connections among adjacent zoning cells using Monte Carlo simulation and random field theory. Then the prior susceptibility of the zoning cells is evaluated using a slope stability analysis model. After that, real-time observations of landslides are used to update the landslide susceptibility utilizing the Bayesian approach. As an example, a research area of 1 km2 in size is studied in this paper. This method is able to respond to new inputs of landslide records timely and update the landslide susceptibility while considering correlations. Hence, the accuracy and capacity of landslide susceptibility assessment are effectively improved.
